LIFE AS AN ASTROPHYSICIST & ENGINEER AFTER ST DAVID'S COLLEGE
In February 2017, prestigious awards were give to heroic members of the emergency services, a life-saving surgeon, pioneering scientists and Welsh sports stars. We are very pleased to announce that among the 24 nominees was ex-St David's student, Jessica Leigh Jones, an astrophysicist and engineer.
After leaving St David's, Jessica went on to complete an astrophysics degree at Cardiff University. She then won a UK Young Engineer of the Year award and received the Intel Inspiration Award for Entrepreneurship (pictured above) for developing a series of novel fibre optic transducers.
An advocate for technical sciences, she is also director and trustee of the Engineering Education Scheme Wales, patron of Science and Engineering at Alton Convent School, and Welsh Government Ambassador for Science and Engineering. Squeezed in between all of that, Jessica is also currently working as an engineer at Sony.
We wish Jessica every success in the future and can't wait to hear what she gets up to next!
