In October, an opportunity was offered to all students in the College to participate in the Enterprise Christmas Market in Cardiff University. Students competed against other colleges to invent and hand-make their own products with the aim of selling them from a stall at the Christmas Market.
I decided to get a team together (Cerys Lenahan, Thando Mpofu, Daryl Johns, Ashleigh Harris and Matthew Cusack) and put my name down for this and my idea was chosen by the College Enterprise Champion, Mrs Wigley.
As the team leader, I was in charge of what we sold. With the support of the deputy, Cerys, the products that we decided to sell were: chocolates with candy fillings, chocolate lollies, chocolate reindeers, chocolate Christmas puddings, and many more sweet treats.
Our main product was the chocolates. When we were in high school, we invented chocolates that aren’t yet on the market, which is why we decided to enter a competition with these. They were chocolates that were filled with sweet fillings such as marshmallow, Skittles, coconut, jelly beans and popping candy. Overall, they were a big hit and we sold-out!

All of our products were hand-made, from cupcakes decorated by Cerys, to chocolates created by myself and Thando, and popcorn cones created by Daryl, we all spent a lot of time and put in a lot of effort into creating these products and we are happy to see that they were liked by so many people.
The competition was held over two days. On the first day we had four different workshops lead by real entrepreneurs who run their own business to prepare us for the market the following day.
At the end of a very long and exhausting day we were delighted to be awarded a prize for the ‘Best Stall’. We were also visited by Ann Swift from Welsh Government and Sara Davies from Big Ideas Wales who also bought our products.
"Overall, we are happy to say that we have participated in the competition and to come away as the best stall."
Being involved in Enterprise has been such a fantastic experience. It has taught me so many different skills and I would recommend that other students become involved in all the activities that are on offer.
I intend to continue my chocolate making business which I intend to sell at other fayres using what I have learned from this experience to move my business forward. I am also hoping to create some more chocolates with some more flavours so that i can expand our company, ‘Sweet Dreams Confectioneries’.

St David's also wishes to say a big thank you to the Managing Director, Francis Walsh, of Archenfield Insurance LTD for donating £100 to the event.
