PHILOSOPHY+ AT OXFORD UNIVERSITY

I was privileged to have attended Oxford University's Philosophy+ day, run annually by the Department of Computer Science, on the 10th of January 2019.

The theme of the event was the intersection of the sciences and philosophy.

The talk was held at the Andrew Wiles building and focused on computer science, physics and mathematics and the philosophical implications that can be derived from advanced study of these disciplines.

Each talk was two hours long and there was an interesting excursion to Jesus College at lunchtime. This allowed us to really get a feel for the Oxford campuses and what life might be like if we were to be accepted there.

Overall, the day was very well put together and very informative. I learnt a great deal of information, usually only made accessible to second year degree students. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Upon his return to College, Emrys presented what he'd learned to his Honours group. Read his presentation here.
